The British Gas International Swimming Meet will take place from 7 – 10 March at John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds. With around 750 competitors and over 2000 swims it promises to be a high calibre event including swims from both Olympic and World champions.
Hugh Dokter, Head Coach at Lincoln Vulcans, will be there with 4 of his top swimmers who have qualified to compete.
Brad Westlake, 2012 National gold medallist in the 15/16 Age Group in 100 and 200 backstroke will compete in his flagship events as well as in the 200 and 400 Individual Medley.
Younger sister, Maya – currently ranked fasted freestyle swimmer in the ASA 16 years Age Group with a time of 2.02.44 - will compete in the 100 and 200 freestyle events.
2012 National Open Water Silver medallist and distance swimmer Ollie
Bitowt will compete in the 1500m freestyle, while newly qualified Tara
Haworth will attend her first British Championship to compete in the 100
and 200m butterfly.
The event has been created to accompany the
re-shuffle of the national Swimming Calendar and will be the trials for
the European Junior championships and the European Youth Olympic
Festival to be held later in 2013.
