Vulcans make the LEAP

On Friday night, the 2014 LEAP Presentation Evening took place, with 3 Vulcan swimmers taking part. This year there are 35 athletes who have received LEAP awards out of in excess of 100 applications across every Olympic sport. Congratulations to Abi Burr, Maya Westlake and Sophie Hart for their selection.

LEAP is a programme designed to co-ordinate the support for talented sports people from Lincolnshire.  It was formed as part of “Lincolnshire 2012” which aimed to support Lincolnshire performers make the London 2012 Olympic Games and beyond and is run by Lincolnshire Sport Partnership.

LEAP provides three levels of support to athletes: -
Level One is for athletes performing at Regional standard consistently over a minimum of 12 months.
Level Two is for National standard performance over a minimum of 12 months.
Level Three is for International standard performance over a minimum of 12 months.

In order to qualify, performers must currently be eligible to represent the County of Lincolnshire according to their sport’s rules.
