Neil Sturge Condolences
It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the passing of...
Lincoln Vulcans were represented at the Masters County Championship on Sunday by an eight-strong team of swimmers. The first event was the mens 100m IM with a strong swim from our first competitor Ian Paulger, followed by Dave, JP, Alex and Liam. First up for the ladies IM were Jo and Kerry, followed in the next heat by Sarah.
Over the course
of the 6 events (100 IM, 50 Butterfly, 50 Breaststroke, 100 Freestyle,
50 Backstroke and 50 Freestyle) there were many strong swims, pb's and
even more medals!! Following these was everybody's favourite events -
the 4x25m mixed IM and 4x25m mixed Freestyle relays. Unfortunately due
to a lack of younger swimmers we were only able to field a team in the
160 - 199 years and 200 + years age groups, meaning Alex and Liam were
not able to take part.
It was an enjoyable, friendly, fast and furious afternoon with barely
time to snatch a jelly baby and get some remedial physio between races.
Lincoln
Pentaqua and Louth swimming clubs again fielded a large number of
competitors, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively, with Lincoln Vulcans
coming in a strong 3rd place and 1st amongst the smaller teams. Everyone
had a great time and are looking forward to competing next year,
hopefully with a larger and stronger team.
Thank you to Jo
Highfield for sorting out the relay teams, our coach Pete Manley and
honorary assistant coach (and chief water bottle filler) Nyah Anderton.
