Junior League Northern Final

The Lincoln Vulcans Junior League team returned from Blackpool last Sunday with no place in the National Final, but with their heads held high.

Competing against teams able to draw from up to 1,000 swimmers from surrounding clubs, the young (and considerably shorter!) Vulcan swimmers produced 16 individual PB swims against some of the top swimmers in the country with equally impressive performances from the relay teams.

Of particular note were swimmers Erin Easton (3rd 9 y/o 25m Freestyle), Sophie Hart (1st 11y/o 50m Backstroke), Zack Peutrill (3rd 9 y/o 25m Breaststroke), William Barber (2nd 10 y/o 50m Butterfly, 2nd 11 y/o 50m Butterfly, 1st 10 y/o 50m Freestyle), and Maisie Aubrey (1st 10 y/o Freestyle).

Showing terrific team spirit, the Vulcan swimmers put up a strong challenge with many of the younger swimmers taking part in their first major competition. The young Vulcans can be proud of their achievement in qualifying for the final and use the experience as a springboard for future success. Thanks also to the parents, coaches and poolside helpers who all contributed to a successful trip.
