Junior League successes UPDATED

Some terrific swimming from both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ team swimmers saw the ‘A’ team qualify for the Northern Junior League as Lincolnshire champions while the ‘B’ team producing an evening of fantastic performances to take 3rd place in the ‘B’ gala.

Going into the final round of the Lincolnshire heats, the ‘A’ team knew that victory would guarantee top spot and a place in the Northern Final. An evening of hard-fought challenges with CADS saw that Cleethorpe club take first place despite 16 first place races from the Vulcan juniors, leaving the two teams tied on equal scores at the top of the table after 3 rounds. However the Vulcans total points of 594 was more that CADS total of 564 and Lincoln Vulcans progress as Lincolnshire champions to the Northern Area Final in Blackpool on 7th October.

1st CADS 188 pts
2nd LVSC A 173 pts
3rd Scunthorpe 135 pts
4th Louth 117pts
5th CLP A 115pts

In the other gala at Yarborough, the Vulcans ‘B’ team swam well above expectations with 10-year old Luca Saggiorato star of the show with victories in his 2 individual races (25m Fly and 50m Breaststroke) and an excellent swim in the 11 year-old boy’s IM relay team that also produced a victory. The 11-year old boys also won their FC relay with determined swims from Callum Hart, Harry Molinario and George Pindar finished off by a storming finish from Oliver Newitt.

Amber Blower made a fantastic start to her 50m Backstroke (great underwater work Amber!) and took second place in the girl’s 11-year section and repeated the feat at the beginning of the IM relay. Callum Monopoli (2), Callum Hart and Jonty Horn also swam hard to pick up second places in their races while there were many strong swims from both girls and boys alike to claim third places.

The final position of third overall was a fitting tribute to all of the junior swimmers who worked so hard to produce a result for the team. Poolside coach, Andy Mason, was “extremely proud of all of the swimmers who took part, with everyone giving 100% effort in their races and producing a fantastic poolside atmosphere - thanks also to the helpers who ensured that everything ran smoothly and little swimmers were in the right place at the right time!”
