Competitions Report

The Lincoln Vulcans swim team were competing across three fronts this weekend which saw the close of the qualifying window for the 2015 National Short Course championships and the 2016 County championships.

Firstly, the performance swimmers looking to gain, or add, national qualifying times competed at Leicester with numerous PB’s. Abi Burr (17) added to her tally whilst Ollie Taylor (15) became the latest member to add his name onto the Nationals list for the 100 IM. Grace Wilson (14) fell agonisingly short in the 200m Breaststroke, just 0.3 away from the qualifying standard bearing in mind she has dropped over a huge 5.5 seconds in the event since September.

The majority of the team competed at the Boston Open meet, achieved countless personal bests, and helped the team win Top Club and Top Visiting Club at the event. A whopping 68 swimmers represented the club at this event so it was no surprise to know that we were the dominant force. Sophie Ballard was just one of the stand out performers, winning Top Girl in the 10yrs age-group.

And last but not least, the Masters section competed at the South Yorkshire Masters event winning 6 Golds, 4 Silvers and 3 Bronze medals!

Head coach, Michael Glossop states: “It’s extremely satisfying seeing the club in it’s entirety competing so well. It’s a testament not only to the swimmers who are working incredibly hard, but to the whole club especially the coaching team I have supporting my vision; Andy Mason, Richard & Yvonne Apps, Nigel Oldham, Ian Bromley and Wendy Webb."
